2. UK Retail sales (04:30 ET) Bearish GBP — Potential downside surprise given drop in consumer confidence, BRC retail sales and shop prices but wage growth increased

3. US Philadelphia Fed Index (08:30 ET) Bullish USD — Potential upside surprise given rebound in Empire state survey

1. RBA Minutes (23:30 ET) Bearish AUD — RBA minutes should be negative for AUD as they explain the rationale for the recent rate cut

2. GE PPI (02:00 ET) Bearish EUR — Potential downside surprise given drop in CPI and lower wholesale price growth

3. EZ Trade Balance & CPI (05:00 ET) Bearish EUR — Potential downside surprise as trade & CPI weakened in Germany

4. GE ZEW (05:00 ET) Bearish EUR — We are not looking for any material improvement in confidence given heightened trade uncertainty

5. US Housing Starts & Building Permits (08:30 ET) Bearish USD — Housing data is hard to predict but decline in stocks could hurt activity

Here’s what we are looking for in tomorrow’s economic reports (April 18, 2019) — Good Luck Trading!

1. AU Employment (21:30 ET) No Trade -- The manufacturing sector reports labor market weakness. The service sector reports strength so this month’s release is difficult to predict.

2. EZ PMIs (03:30 & 04:30 ET) No Trade -- This month’s PMIs are hard to predict because industrial production accelerated but factory orders weakened. The ZEW was also mixed p>

3. UK Retail Sales (04:30 ET) Bearish GBP -- Potential downside given lower CPI and BRC sales

4. CAD Retail Sales (08:30 ET) Bullish CAD -- Potential upside given sharp rise in wholesale sales and strong job growth in Feb

5. US Retail Sales (08:30 ET) Bullish USD -- Potential upside given stronger gas prices and uptick in Redbook retail sales

1. EZ Current Account (04:00 NY Time) No Trade -- Stronger German current account activity offset by weaker French activity

2. UK Retail Sales (04:30 NY Time) No Trade -- UK retail sales is a tough call this month because rise in shop prices is offset by a lower retail sales report according to the British Retail Consortium

3. CA CPI (08:30 NY Time) Bullish CAD -- Potential upside surprise given rise in prices according to IVEY PMI

4. University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index (10:00 NY Time) Bearish USD -- Potential downside surprise given equity market volatility which could have taken a toll on sentiment
